These few days, I've been wondering...
What role do I play in my life?As an individual, I am maybe just one of the statistics in the Singapore population.
I may be a young lady who is still trying to outgrow from the teenage era.
As a family member, I am the eldest daughter who has to play a part in looking after the whole family, be it housework, financial support, etc. etc. I am also the eldest sister who has to take care of 2 monkeys--my sister and brother.
As a student, I am a Year 1 going Year 2 student of NUS, the school renowned for its good reputation internationally. I am an exco of one of the CCAs in NUS. I am... a student just like the rest.
As a tuition teacher, my role is to inspire my kids so that they're motivated to learn. It's not as easy as it seems, because inspiring people needs that X-factor and engagement to proceed. Every student needs their own unique X to become inspired. You can't just inspire all of them with the same one sentence, because everyone's needs are different. I also see this role as a stepping stone to the future generation of Singapore-makers.
As a friend, I see my role as a companion, an entertainer, a mediator and a helper:
A companion who stays by your side when you're feeling low, or high, or medium.
An entertainer who builds a light-hearted atmosphere and cracks you up at times.
A mediator who restores broken relationships between friends and people.
A helper who tries her best to lend you a helping hand whenever she can, whenever you need.
As a believer of the Truth,
I see myself as the spreader, not the virus, but the Truth.
This role, therefore, is the most important.
Ironically, I've not fulfilled it very much.
As you can see, everyone of us play so many different roles in our one and only life that we have. Now,
our role in life is to be responsible of all the different roles that we play and also to play them well.
